Galentine’s Day Quotes for Ladies Celebrating Ladies
Inside: Galentine’s Day quotes to share, post, and skywrite as we celebrate the ladies in our lives.
Leslie Knope of Parks & Recreation is the queen of all Galentine’s Day quotes because she’s so into ladies celebrating ladies that she invented the holiday!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Parks & Recreation, Leslie, or Galentine’s Day you really need to go binge the whole series on Netflix. Like yesterday. But in the meantime, here’s my spoiler-less recap.

Parks & Rec Recap
Leslie Knope, played by the incomparable Amy Poehler, works at the Parks & Recreation Department in a small town in Indiana. She’s the Type Aiest Type A person on the planet and is exceptional at everything she does.
Leslie is so pulled together in the workplace she has binders to help organize her binders. She single-handedly carries the department of kooky characters and while she drives everyone nuts with her passion, they also adore her because she’s so gosh darn adorable.
Add in Nick Offerman’s portrayal of the grumpy, dry, and wonderful Ron Swanson, Aziz Ansari’s attempted swag as Tom Haverford, and Retta’s sass as Donna Meagle and you have television perfection.
I’ve watched the series 247 times, approximately.
What is Galentine’s Day?
One of the many things Leslie is exceptional at is friendship. So she created a holiday called Galentine’s Day. What is Galentine’s Day? In her words:
Breakfast and female friendships. Why hasn’t this holiday existed forever!?!
The Galentine’s Day celebration in the show is commemorated with elaborate Leslie gifts, but the real gift is the togetherness…and the brunch during work hours.
Ladies around the country have started celebrating Galentine’s Day in many different forms and I’m here for all of them. Ladies celebrating ladies!
However, Galentine’s Day is always on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. And more often than not February 13 is on a weekday when the ladies of my life are out lawyering, teaching, advising, and child wrangling. So sadly we haven’t done the Galentine’s Day brunch yet. (Emphasis on the yet!)
Instead, I generally celebrate Galentine’s Day by sending memes full of love to my lady friends who also enjoy a good Knope reference. This effort is severely missing the bacon and mimosas, but when your friends scatter around the country it’s better than nothing.
Ladies Celebrating Ladies
It’s hard to carve out time in our busy lives for friendships.
That sounds crazy and sad, but it’s true.
As busy working moms we are all moving in a million different directions and have a million and one responsibilities. It’s not a bad thing. We grow up. We move. We build families. That’s life!
But when we do have the chance to revisit ourselves as “Insert Your Name Here” the Friend instead of the Wife/Mom/Co-Worker/Neighbor, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the people who have been there for us over the years to talk about important things, and nonsense things, and Law & Order SVU plot holes.
So as you start thinking about your next girl’s trip to Aruba, spin class, or Target, find some ways to celebrate the ladies in your life with something simple. Like some Galentine’s Day quotes!

Happy Galentine’s Day
As we wrap things up, a speak shout out to the ladies in my life who have helped shape me in so many ways.
To my beautiful ladies, Happy Galentine’s Day.
You are epically brilliant unicorns with smiles that could launch a thousand ships.
Your skin radiates like the sun glinting off 2 Chainz chains.
Your laughter rings through the skies like the song of a million Ariana Grandes.
You’re inspiring, and challenging, and entertaining.
And I love you.
hey hey hey, what if we do celebrate it?
Um, yes. Good point. I’ll text you. Ladies dinner?
I just published a post about lady shows to binge watch on Galentine’s day. (it falls on a holiday where I live.) I’m going to put a link to your post on the holiday in mine. I couldn’t have expressed how great this day is any better than you did. Thank you!

Happy Galentine’s Day, girl!!! DEF going to check out that waffle recipe!
Great post and beautiful blog!
Thanks so much!
Hope you have a great spot in mind for your NYC visit. So much amazing food here and also hope you have great weather!
Thank you! We have some planning to do still but I’m super excited.
I do Galentine’s Day every year – it’s my very favorite!
Yay!! That’s awesome. I need to step up my celebrations.
Love this! I am all for a solid Galentine’s Day with my favorite girls! 🙂
Yay!! Enjoy some lady time!
First of all – Parks and Rec truly IS a flawless series. Also, you’re absolutely right. Sometimes it feels like life is too busy for friendships, which is (obviously) not an ideal situation. Plus, research shows relationships are the #1 happiness booster out there, so spending time with those we love should be at the top of our list! Thanks for this post to remind us all to slow down and appreciate those around us. I’m so glad you’re able to celebrate Galentine’s Day formally in April (and even more stoked that you’re seeing Hamilton! Have you seen it yet? You’ll LOVE it.)
I haven’t seen it yet and I’m SO excited. Spending time with friends just sitting on the couch is amazing, but adding Hamilton is next level Galentine’s. 🙂
I LOVE Parks and Rec! I need to start celebrating Galentine’s Day because it’s an amazing idea for a holiday 🙂 Sounds like I’m making waffles on February 13th!
Yay waffles!!!
Parks and Rec = LOVE. Seriously, one of my favorite shows. And one of the best things to come out of that show is Galentine’s Day! I actually get more excited about Galentine’s Day than I do Valentine’s Day =) Thanks for a fun post!
Leslie’s compliments for Ann are the freaking best. I need someone like that in my life.
Erika, you a magical, beautiful, talented flying unicorn. 🙂
